Short Bio

Henry Parada, Venezuelan-born artist, creates geometric 3D works exploring color, illusion, and power dynamics. Based in Sacramento, CA.

Statement

Dimensional Pointillism explores the intersection of color, geometry, and light through a distinctive structural approach. In this series, I construct compositions from rods arranged perpendicular to the surface, creating a three-dimensional matrix reminiscent of pointillism. These elements shift in color and rhythm, transforming static planes into dynamic perceptual fields.

As viewers move, forms dissolve and reconfigure. Light interacts with the structures, casting shadows and activating the rods into shifting constellations of hue and depth. What appears ordered becomes fluid; what seems fixed reveals motion.

Unlike traditional painting, where pigment rests on canvas, my work builds color into space. Each rod serves as a conduit—not only for light but for perception itself. The interplay between structure, color, and movement invites viewers to reconsider the boundaries of the picture plane and their role in shaping what they see.

Through this process, I aim to create environments where color breathes, geometry moves, and perception becomes an active experience. The work reflects on transformation—how systems, whether visual or social, may appear rigid yet remain open to change. Dimensional Pointillism is both an optical and conceptual exploration, where the act of seeing becomes a form of participation.

Biography

Henry Parada is a Venezuelan-born artist whose work explores the dynamic relationship between color, form, and perception. Based in Sacramento, California, he creates geometric and three-dimensional constructions that blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and installation.

With a background in chemistry and a self-taught visual approach, Henry integrates analytical precision with artistic experimentation. His works invite viewers to engage physically and mentally, as color, light, and structure shift with movement. What seems static reveals motion; what appears rigid transforms into fluid experience.

Throughout his practice, Henry has developed several bodies of work, including Dimensional Pointillism, Vibrant Geometries, and Chromatic Rhythms. Each series reflects a unique exploration of spatial rhythm and visual tension, using individually shaped elements and chromatic gradients to create immersive fields of perception.

Beyond these series, his investigations extend to kinetic and optical art. Inspired by the legacy of op art and Latin American kinetic movements, Henry experiments with illusions, layering, and viewer interaction to generate works where perception itself becomes the medium.

While his aesthetic is rooted in abstraction, his work often resonates with broader social and political themes. The interplay between order and disruption, control and change, reflects how systems—visual or societal—are never as fixed as they seem.

Henry’s art is ultimately about transformation. It invites audiences to move, observe, and discover new perspectives. Through shifting colors, rhythmic geometries, and kinetic illusions, his practice celebrates curiosity and challenges the way we see.

Motivated by exploration rather than convention, Henry continues to expand his language, creating works that breathe, move, and encourage viewers to participate in the act of seeing as a transformative experience.
